ROLE: Video editor, color + sound

client OBJECTIVE: drive home our brand ethos + signature makeup aesthetic through the lens of each of the 3 cities we shot in:

NYC, London, + LA

create three pillar campaign videos that bring together a cohesive feel and embrace the multimedia aspect of the shoots. Video was captured on a variety of video mediums: hi-res cinematic cameras, handheld camcorders, digital point and shoot, super 8, VHS, iPhone. Footage is a mix of BTS, campaign, macro beauty close ups (i.e. lips, eye, etc), makeup application, and city scapes. We’re looking for each video to really capture the essence of the city and the respective shoot’s distinctive vibe.

editing approach:

in order to create a unified visual language across all videos i developed a shared color grade, distinct high energy pace, and consistent motion graphics and transitions that anchor the films together. I was excited about the multimedia nature of the shoots and weaved together digital, analog, and stock footage with overlays and a layered soundscape. I love treating texture/grittiness as an intentional style, it made these spots feel on the pulse. while each video addressed a different city, the goal was to make them all inhabit the same immersive, multi-sensory world. sisters, not triplets.

Fun Lab ⋆˚꩜ Hijinx Hotel grand opening promo

ROLEs: video editor, color + sound, copy

client OBJECTIVE:

Create a hero cut (plus cutdown/ads) for the grand opening of Hijinx Hotel irvine (an immersive, game-room style experience). It’s a massive 35k sq ft space with two restaurants, two bars, and even a speakeasy upstairs. the videos should elevate our current branding and encompass the full experience, while maintaining some intrigue and building excitement.

editing approach:

this is a fun, high energy, immersive experience, so i wanted the spots to mirror that. I kept the pacing fast and upbeat, while finding the best moments from the raw footage that utilized movement to take the viewer on a journey “through the hotel”. With use of sound effects and bright color grading, i hoped to emphasize the fun and playful nature of the hotel. the goal was to show enough of the experience to explain what it was, while maintaining some intrigue and building hype!

ROLE: video editor, graphic design, motion graphic animation, stock licensing

client OBJECTIVE: Arts education is missing a creative voice that resonates with a wide audience. Right now, arts education has a bad brand, totally devoid of modern, relevant design. This isn’t child’s-play, this is a sophisticated way to transform our education system. Our vision is to enlist our creative friends to help elevate the message for arts education.

editing approach:

The message of this spot was important and needed supporting imagery that gave emphasis , so i first and foremost focused on how to hit each point home. stylistically, i aimed to create an animation style that was eye-catching, “pop”-y and bright, while remaining grounded enough to push the message and call to action. the use of real life student subjects, and black and white photos helped to keep the message grounded in reality. the budget on this project was small, so i utilized my toolkit of stock knowledge to find assets and created all of the graphics/illustrations from scratch.

client OBJECTIVE: showcase our new apple serum foundation with a snappy sizzle that includes a tutorial on shade matching. ensures the viewer remains engaged while absorbing the product benefits. include essential elements like on-screen text overlays for shade names and key ingredients, ensuring the transition between "behind-the-scenes" application and the final, high-definition result feels seamless. create a compelling narrative that drives purchase intent by highlighting the serum’s texture and finish.

client OBJECTIVE: interpret the song and create a music video.

this was a collaboration with an artist that put full trust in my aesthetic vision and choices. i blended 8mm footage from the 60s and 70s with super 8 footage i had shot myself to create a sense of time vagueness. the track had a dark and heavy feel to it that i hoped to match with visuals and themes.
